Guide to Lessons at OAO Moto Camp with Vicki Golden 2023

This March 24-26, 2023 we’re roaring back to the West Coast in partnership with Vicki Golden for two glorious days and nights of riding, camping, and learning for ladies only! This event is for new riders, motocross riders, and desert/dualsport/enduro riders alike; Over And Out has something for everyone.

Terrain Options at Fox Raceway

There’s a variety of terrain options for all level of riders at this event, plus we’ll create scheduled opportunities for different level/types of riders to ride different tracks without worrying about being too fast or too slow, too novice or too aggressive. The BEST way to try new terrain is with the guidance, support and camaraderie of a group lesson!

Beginner Track - Great for Beginners, fun for all levels. This track is wide, with big bowl corners and safe tabletops.

Vet Track - Beginner to Intermediate, fun for all levels. Tamed down with smaller jumps, perfect for riders who can ride tracks well and for riders just learning how to jump and corner.

Main Track - Intermediate to Expert. Bigger jumps, steeper and taller features. Faster and more skilled riders use the Main track, though a variety of levels will use the flat starting area for Vicki’s Start class.

Off-Road Loop - 25-mile rocky off-road loop, with a few options for different levels. This loop will be open for riding throughout the event, with our official support team ranging to help and sweep. Enduro lessons will use of some or all sections depending on skill level.

Open Areas - There are so many cool areas off-track, perfect for exploring and practicing skills.

Pit Bike Track - Bring your pit bikes! This will be open for riding throughout the event, plus races Saturday early evening.

Lessons with Vicki Golden

What better way for women to kick their skills into high gear than to work with the most prolific and badass female rider on the planet!!

This year we created shorter, more focused classes with Vicki so ladies could really hone in on the skills they want to master, like cornering, jumping, starts, and other more nuanced riding and racing skills. Ladies can mix and match these 75-minute sessions a-la-carte to build their best weekend ever!

Note: These do not teach new riders how to ride. Beginner or novice rider, please start with the Sedlak Fundamentals or MX Level 1 classes. Intermediate riders, you might want to get in more seat time with Sedlak’s MX Level 2 class. Those are described further below.

Get ahead of the pack from the get-go, and get a leg up on taking home a win with this group session focused on dirt starts!

JUMPS

CORNERING & BALANCE

Sat 1pm-2:15pm, Sun 12:15pm-1:30pm

You know what they say: Jump for show, corner for dough! Cornering is one of the most important techniques for any rider or racer. Learn how to dial in your turns, keep your speed and come out ahead. One-handed balance techniques will up the ante!

BRAKING & RECOVERY

Sat 2:15pm-3:30pm

“Recovery” here refers to when you’re riding or racing and you fall or have a setback. This session covers how to get back up and get things started again quickly. Braking will also be covered because, obviously, proper braking is just one more good way to avoid wipeouts in the first place!
