Tees, Tanks and Hoodies to Support Road 2 Recovery
We’re proud to announce partnership with Road 2 Recovery, the infamous non-profit started by Jimmy Button, that has to-date assisted over 117 athletes, and granted over $10 Million dollars to cover medial needs and industry initiatives.
Road 2 Recovery shines a light on the path forward for athletes during their most difficult times. We’ve created classic Over And Out Moto apparel with glow-in-the-dark graphics to honor and support their work - a portion of proceeds* from these tanks, tees and hoodies will be donated directly to Road 2 Recovery!
“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.”
Did you know? R2R is a female-run non-profit!
Over 20 years ago, Road 2 Recovery founder Jimmy Button was just 26 years old and entering his 10th year as a professional Motocross and Supercross rider for factory Yamaha, when he sustained a spinal cord injury during practice at San Diego Supercross. After experiencing what it was like as a young athlete to navigate the medical system while dealing with catastrophic injuries, R2R was born.
R2R was established as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit to provide AMA Licensed Professional Motocross/Supercross Riders with financial assistance if they sustain career-ending injuries, as well as providing motivational, emotional, and spiritual support to these individuals and their families.
Today, R2R is a female-run non-profit with Anita Button serving as Director of Operations and Lori Armistead, Director of Marketing and Public Relations. The foundation has expanded to also help professional Action Sports Athletes, in addition to opening up offices in the UK.
To date the R2R foundation has:
Helped over 117 athletes and their families
Granted over $10 Million dollars to cover medial needs and industry initiatives.
Negotiated down over 1 Million in athletes’ medical bills since 2000.
Supported the Alpinestars Mobile Medical Unit, and donated over $400K to help purchase equipment for the rig.
Established a Mental Health Initiative as of 2021.
How R2R helped Vicki Golden
R2R assisted and arranged medical air transport for moto athlete (and now Over And Out coach), Vicki Golden, from a hospital in Ohio to a hospital closer to her home in CA, after Vicki suffered injury in early 2018. R2R worked with one of their medial air partners, covered the upfront cost required to get her transported, thereby expediting her intake to the new hospital.
While it was undetermined whether insurance would help with Vicki’s costs, R2R worked with Vicki’s team of sponsors to secure donations to get all transport fees covered in the event insurance would decline the ultimate bill. R2R was then able negotiate with the medical insurance company to get 100% of Vicki’s medical air transport covered, and were able to refund all donors who were lined up to support!
